Before words are written, they are heard.
Before rules are explained, they are absorbed.
And before language is understood, it is spoken.
Colorfon is built on these simple truths.
Welcome.
You may have studied English for years.
You may know the rules.
You may read reasonably well.
And yet, when it comes to speaking, something feels unnatural.
That "something" is about Sound.
More pecisely, about English "sounds" that do not exist
in the phonetic database of your own mother tongue.
You must learn them - that is all you need to do!
What Colorfon is.
Colorfon is a Stand-alone Pronunciation System based on the way humans naturally learn to speak.
• by listening.
• by observing.
• by practising.
Colorfon restores this forgotten foundation and places it back at the centre of learning English.
What Colorfon DOESN'T expect of you.
to have any knowledge of phonetics,
to memorise words or sounds.
to study rules.
to translate.
be distracted with meaning.
Instead,
You listen to spoken sounds.
You will recognise most of them:
some will be new.
Whether familiar or not,
you will learn to build words using ALL of them.
You hear the result immediately.
You try for yourself.
You fumble.
You adjust.
You try again.
What Colorfon does — by design
Colorfon focuses exclusively on spoken language.
You won't forget how to spell "beautiful". (but you WILL know how to pronounce it!).
Step inside
We present our first introdutory games that show you
the basics of word-formation using the coloured phonetic alphabet.
The "sounds" you hear are taken from the official international
phonetic alphabet of the IPA, so you can relax, nothing strange here.
What Colorfon does is transform the way they are presented.
That's the difference; that's the novelty...and that's the magic!

1. Click on the symbol in the square left top - this is the theme sound of this page.
2. Click on the 1st picture at the top in the BLUE frame, and listen.
Now move to the word-image list on the right and choose the word that
you think matches the 1st picture. Drag it up to the top
position alongside it's 'partner'.
3. When you're done, try to 'read' the word-image and repeat it out loud:
this will make learning much much faster, and is the secret to successful pronunciation.
Continue down the list.
4. Use the arrow to jump to the next page. There are 18 pages, one for
each of the Colorfon symbols("Fons").
5. Repeat the exercise as many times as you want, until you're familiar with all the sounds. And thats it.
6. If the page seems too big for your screen, or a black bar appears near the bottom, use
the CTRL key + mouse wheel to reduce the size of the page."

1. Click on "Go" at the top of this page.
2. Click on the the "listener" in the center circle, and listen.
3. Choose the symbol corresponding to the sound just heard and clic on it.
4. An image will appear in the top square and the FonWord will appear in the
the center circle. Hover-Over the word with the mouse cursor to see the English Spelling
under/over the square.
5. Clic on the arrow to continue.
6. Repeat the exercise until 17 appears in the yellow box. If there is a negative
score in the BLUE box then record this score.
7. If there is no negative score, then this means that you have learnt to
recognise all the Fons! Amazing!!!
8. Be careful. If you make more than 6 mistakes, then you will be forced to
begin the game again.
9. Repeat the exercise as much as you please!
